Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and count your free downloads: your email, name, and what you download.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Free and logged-out visitors see Google ads, which may use cookies. Premium members see no ads.
- You only get our newsletter if you confirm you want it, and you can unsubscribe in one click.
- Email nwest@ndwtech.org to see, fix or delete your data.
1. Who we are
TechSheets (techsheets.dev) is a library of technology worksheets and teaching resources for K–12 classrooms, operated by Nicholas D. West Tech LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use TechSheets, why, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address, your name, and a password. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we never see them. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us.
- Profile details, if you choose to add them — for example your role (teacher, parent), the grade level you teach, and your school.
- Reviews — the star rating, comment and display name you post on a worksheet.
- Worksheet requests — what you ask us to make, with your name and email so we can follow up. Requests are private: only the TechSheets team sees them, including in our internal team chat (Slack).
- Messages — anything you send us by email.
Information collected as you use TechSheets
- Worksheet activity — which worksheets you view and download, and how many downloads you have used this month. Free accounts include a monthly download allowance, and this is how we count it.
- Visit information — the page you came from (the referrer), the pages you visit, and a random browser identifier stored on your device (see Cookies). We use this to understand which resources are useful.
- Account-integrity information — to keep the free allowance to one per person, we store a normalized form of your email address and do not allow disposable email addresses.
- Technical information — your IP address, browser and device type, recorded by our hosting and security providers, and error reports when something breaks.
Payment information
Premium subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We keep a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.
3. How we use it
- To create and secure your account, verify your email, and let you sign in.
- To provide worksheets and enforce the free download allowance.
- To process Premium subscriptions and send receipts.
- To send account emails (verification, welcome, important notices) and, only if you have confirmed you want it, our newsletter.
- To understand which resources teachers use, so we can improve and add to them.
- To find and fix errors, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
- To show ads to free and logged-out visitors (see Advertising).
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK, we rely on these legal bases: contract (providing your account and subscription), consent (the newsletter and personalized advertising), and legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and understanding how the site is used). You can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Advertising
Free-plan members and visitors who are not signed in see ads served by Google AdSense. Premium members do not see ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
7. Emails we send
- Account emails — verification, welcome, receipts and important service notices. These are part of having an account.
- Newsletter — free worksheets and teaching ideas. When you sign up, we send a confirmation email; you are only added if you click to confirm. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect your account.
8. Reviews are public
Ratings, comments and display names you post on worksheets are visible to everyone. Please do not include personal information in a review. Contact us to have a review removed.
9. Children
TechSheets resources are used in K–12 classrooms, but TechSheets accounts are for adults — teachers, parents and school staff. Students do not need an account to use a printed worksheet. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. Monthly download counts are kept so the allowance can be enforced and are not used for anything else. Visit records are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the site. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we must keep it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations (for example, payment records).
11. Your choices and rights
- See, correct or delete your data — email nwest@ndwtech.org from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days.
- Stop the newsletter — use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
- Limit ads — see Advertising, or upgrade to Premium.
- Cancel Premium — at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the billing period.
Depending on where you live — for example California and other U.S. states, the EEA or the UK — you may have additional rights, including to access or port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their local data protection authority. We will honor these requests as the law requires.
12. Security
We use established providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and restricted access to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will let account holders know by email or on the site before it takes effect.
